LEARN NEW SKILLS or STAY STUCK WHERE YOU ARE and that was before I started using WordPress.
I remember being on a training call a few years ago with Cherie Yvette, aka The Urban Cowgirl and she is usually this quirky, perky cool Google master with the patience and understanding of a saint when people get overwhelmed when faced with the online world for the first time.
Apart from someone asking her on every call “can I hire you to do it for me?” she always politely steered the question back round to the person asking the question, saying something like “I’m really flattered that you asked, but it would be far more beneficial to you to learn the skills yourself so you can “learn to fish so to speak especially at first.”
Well, one evening I am not sure what she had for dinner but my goodness she just opened up, spread her “peacock feathers” and smacked the audience between the eyes with what she really saw for everyone on the call … THE AMAZING OPPORTUNITY THAT LAY IN FRONT OF THEM ….IF …. THEY JUST EMBRACED IT AND DECIDED TO LEARN THE SKILLS.
It was truly memorable and that is why I am so passionate about encouraging entrepreneurs, small business owners, retailers, network marketers etc to start using WordPress!
UsingWordPressForManyLifeChangingMomentsToCome
Wordpress is more than just a great way to get started online, on the surface using WordPress may seem hard at first but in reality given the right instructions you will find it easier to follow than you think.
"using wordpress"
If you have never even contemplated building a website before I would like you to re-think that idea and really think long and hard about using WordPress instead, it is easier, ranks higher and has some amazing plug ins that do 80% of the “technical stuff” for you.
As we have demonstrated in the previous videos, choosing and buying a domain name at Godaddy is a fairly straight forward transaction, the sort of thing you would do going through any online check out.
The keyword research is a far more important part of the process so we made a short video on the process we went through for one of our clients in Toronto. ( Read the blog post by clicking here )
You can go into even more detail on your keyword research with a tool like Market Samurai which we go into with our Project Lifestyle Club Members.
Once you have the domain name, you hide database need to change the nameservers at Godaddy over to your Cpanel nameservers. ( This we explained in the second video which you can view by clicking here.)

FirstStepsToUsingWordPress
Once you have :-
- Your chosen domain name
- Your self hosted account ( we love Hostgator)
- You have changed your nameservers to Hostgator or self hosting of your choice
NextStepsToUsingWordPress
You will then be ready to proceed through the next few steps so you can start using WordPress.
The next step is to go back to your Cpanel and select “add on domains”
You will need to tell Hostgator which domain name you have selected to add to your Hostgator self hosting Cpanel * so make sure you type this in very carefully or when you come to start using WordPress you will find your new site does not exist!
