What is the Michelin Guide?
The Michelin Guide was published with the aim of offering quality information to drivers in France at the end of the 19th century, a time when there were barely three thousand vehicles in the country.
The rich information about hotels and restaurants served as a navigation guide for travelers, who, in doing so, would use their vehicles more and wear out more tires, the company's main product.
As time went by, the guide gained more popularity—as did the cars—and expanded to other countries.
Today, the Michelin Guide, with its star rating system, is the most respected publication in the world in terms of ranking high-quality hotels and restaurants.
